Editor's review
The second episode of Lode Runner series features a different and much tougher set of 75 levels. The levels get more difficult as you progress through them.
The game is very interesting and challenging. Some of the features of the game add to its convenience. These include the automatic saving of the game when you hit Esc or if you want to discard all the changes that you have made you can press Ctrl+ Alt+ Z .The Help has a link to the Online Help which comes in handy when you get stuck and want to know something other than what the Help provides. The game also has a Level Editor that can help you modify the levels that you have previously accomplished. You can create new levels and also send these new levels to the gaming centre to be included in the new episodes. The game has a quick save & load feature that helps you save the game and not loose the levels that you have attained. This feature comes in handy because the hero does not have infinite lives. The game also has smooth control engine. The full screen and different window modes make the game all the more easy.
The hero of the game can do different tasks like climbing ladders, collecting chests, digging holes to trap the bungelings (guards). Some of the hints provided by the game are very helpful. E.g. once the hero has collected all the chests only then would the exit ladder appear. There are false bricks, that the hero has to avoid and there is no way you can tell them apart from real bricks.
The graphics of the game aren’t very sophisticated. All the figures like the bungelings and the hero could have been more life-like.
Overall: The game is very challenging and it holds your attention through out. Had the graphics been realistic the overall look of the game could have been more pleasant. The game deserves 4 stars.
